While classes may have gone to remote learning but that does not mean your job search is suspended. To the contrary, now is the time to double up your efforts to find the right post college position. Many of your classmates will simply give up and stop looking. Do not make the same mistake! There is no doubt that some industries will pause in their hiring. However, most companies will simply be more judicious when making decisions about hiring on new talent. During uncertain economic times, employers see the value of entry level hires. Think about it- your impact to the “economic bottom line” of an employer is significantly less than a hire with 10+ years of experience. Your hire makes good business sense to a company. The message here- smart employers will keep hiring new grads. They did during Y2K, the Dot com bust, 2008 Financial crisis, 9/11 and will do so as we get through this virus. Your mission: be aggressive with networking, widen your search criteria, keep applying, be prepared and anticipate delays so you can re position yourself, and above all; remain optimistic and flexible. While a bit overcast today your future is bright!
